Our Purpose

The purpose for the Bible Baptist Church being on "the net" is, quite simply, the same as the reason for the existence of our bi-monthly publication, The Baptist Pillar. For that matter, the very existence of the Bible Baptist Church itself is understood only when this primary purpose is realized; that being, to execute biblically, "The Great Commission", in all its entirety.

Matthew 28:18-20 gives to us the words of our Lord as he..."spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Unfortunately, all the words of our Lord are given so little attention today, that most don't even understand to whom these commands are directed! Without a doubt, the condition of the world, in general, and of the true New Testament Church in particular, is a direct result of this very serious failing on our part to comprehend the complete directive of "The Great Commission".

God Himself established the foundations of His Church: "I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."Matt.16:18 (I Pet.2:6-7; I Cor.3:11; Eph.4:10-13) A simple overview of these scriptures show us that the commission given to HIS Church (NOT any saved individuals) was to:

GO! TEACH! BAPTIZE! PRESERVE!

However, a review of the last one hundred years of "church" history would reveal quite a different trend of thought harboured within Christendom; that being only to:

GO! BAPTIZE! Consequently, generations of untaught, church-going people have been produced, being totally oblivious to the means and methods our Lord has put forth concerning salvation, servitude, and, The Church (Eph.5:32).

God's Word is the only source for Truth. It is only through His Word (Jn.1:1,14, 5:39, 17:17; Rom.10:17) that:

- Souls are saved (I Tim.4:16);

- Regenerated souls might have knowledge, wisdom, and guidance (Col.1:9,10) to identify HIS Church, by means of its history, ordinances, doctrines and administrations (II Tim.2:2; 3:14);

- The believer is empowered to be a witness (I Tim.2:1-3, II Tim.1:7-9; Tit.1:9, 2:10-15);

- Our Saviour might be glorified in a way that is acceptable unto Him (Rom.12:1-2; I Pet.2:5; Heb.12:28) through His Church (Eph. 3:21).

The scriptures emphasize repeatedly the importance of holding fast to the truth (Tit.1:9; I Tim.3:15) and then proclaiming it (II Tim.3:16-4:2) that all things might be accomplished. To their own destruction the multitudes of today have put aside the words of our Lord, that they may stay comfortably as they are. OHHH THAT MAN WOULD FINALLY REALIZE THE MAGNITUDE OF THE DANGER THAT HE IS SUBJECTING HIMSELF TO WHEN HE TREATS THE WORD OF HIS CREATOR SO LIGHTLY! We are commanded to.. "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." (Col.2:8) "Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?" (Mk.12:24) "Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men...Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition...Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered:" (Mk.7:7,9,13)" He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." (Jn.12:48-50) "Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded." (Prov.13:13)

The two surviving fundamentals that the evangelicals believe themselves to be fulfilling, ..GO!.. BAPTIZE!.. are now perverted, no longer existing in the form that our Lord first left them in. Authority and purpose would all be lost in antiquity if it weren't for the preservation of His Word and a remnant of His Church. It is certainly not a wonder that the words for today were prophetically revealed to be APOSTASY and UNGODLINESS! (II Tim.3:1-7, 4:3-4) Churches that once held the scriptures honourably, have now made it necessary for the Lord to perform the surgery that He threatened the church at Ephesus with,...the removal of their right to be His Church. (Rev.1:20 & 2:5)

We at Bible Baptist are so thankful that we have a God that cannot lie (Tit.1:2) and is able to perform all that He has set forth to do. (Rom.4:21) His promise to preserve His Word (Ps.12:6-7) and His Church (Matt.16:18) can only cause one to rejoice, in that anyone's foot may be planted upon the ROCK "...and that Rock was Christ." (I Cor. 10:4; Deut.32:4) Our keeping to "The Great Commission", in all its totality, leads to the preservation of His truth, "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." This invariably assures us of the preservation of His church: and the preservation of His church means the preservation of His truth. In all of this, the truths of the Gospel will be maintained, and delivered, as our Lord thus commanded it to be. (Eccl.3:14) Right from the first century onward, God has preserved His remnant that this might be, and WE DARE NOT TAMPER WITH IT! (Deut.4:2; Eccl.3:14)

The apostle Paul once stated that we are debtors to the cause of Christ, for the great gift of love and grace that He has bestowed upon us in this last day. Therefore, as a thankful people, we at Bible Baptist are indebted to our Saviour, to be used of Him for the sake of:

- Passing on the glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ as once delivered to us;

- Starting sound local, independent, New Testament Baptist Churches;

- Exposing error and those propagating it "in the Ecumenical Spirit" and by means of the "Universal Church" heresy;

- Stirring you up by putting you in remembrance;

- Challenging you to search the scriptures to see if these things be so.

It is to this that Bible Baptist Church of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada has set itself to, and it is to this that we implore YOU to seek for yourselves. "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:" (Eph.4:13-15)

AMEN!
