Introduction
At the Bible Baptist
Church we publish a bi-monthly paper entitled
The Baptist Pillar.
Our first issue went out in Feb. 1993, Volume 1 Number 1. You'll
notice we don't have that one listed here, we lost the electronic
copy of it. But we still have a hardcopy and we thought it good
to include from it the "Letter from the Editor",
because it explains our reasons for publishing the Pillar in the
first place. And it's the same reason for wanting to put it on
the WWW. It is our prayer that as The Baptist Pillar
goes out it will help to guide those who aren't exactly sure what
an Independent Baptist is to being true Independent Baptists. And
for those who say they are Independent Baptists, and know what
they are supposed to believe, to either get right or drop the
name Baptist.
Letter from the Editor
The reason for publishing The Baptist Pillar is
so that Canada might have a voice, it's own bi-monthly periodical
for the purpose of revealing the truth and exposing error.
We are warned in II Tim. 3:13, "But evil men and seducers
shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived". In
Mat. 24:4 Jesus warns us, "...Take heed that know man
deceive you". The reason deception takes place is that the
truth is not known. When people are ignorant of the truth they
become candidates for deception.
Example: Many claim to be Christians, but are deceived, not
knowing the Scriptures. They have never been born again, Jn. 3:7.
No repentance, Lk. 13:3. No change II Cor. 5:17. Therefore, they
are deceived by religion and false teachers into believing they
are saved. No change - No salvation - No Christian!
The same goes for those who call themselves Baptist. Anyone can
call oneself a Baptist, but what you believe is what makes you a
Baptist. If you are a Baptist, you would believe what a Baptist
has always believed:
Salvation by grace through faith. Local church only, not some
mysterious, invisible, universal church. Closed communion - not
open to all. Only accept Baptist baptism - not all immersions.
Nor do they fellowship with churches that practice such things.
